Your patio, laid out paver by paver.
Pick the size and the pattern. The patio lays itself out at your size, and the plan behind it counts every paver and every cut, and puts the base and the sand in tons for the yard.
project
Lay out a 12 x 16 patio185 plans, each counted from its drawing
Order once. Deliver once.
A short pallet means a second delivery fee and a weekend lost. A calculator that multiplies square feet by four and a half does not know your pattern or your border. The plan counts the pavers on the drawing, cut ones included, and the base from the dig.

Four patterns
- Running bondRows offset by half a paver, like brickwork. The fewest cuts and the easiest to lay straight.
- BasketweavePairs of pavers turned at right angles, square by square: a traditional garden look.
- Herringbone 90Pavers in a zigzag square to the edges: the strongest interlock.
- Herringbone 45The zigzag turned on the diagonal. The most cuts, and the most striking.

The projects
Paver patiosRunning bond, basketweave and herringbone, with or without a soldier border. Every paver counted from the drawing, every cut marked, and the base and sand in tons.
Paver walkwaysA path to the door, the gate or the shed: 3, 4 or 5 ft wide, with a soldier border both sides.
Retaining wallsGarden and terrace walls in standard 4 in block: the courses, the buried course, the base, the drainage and the caps.
Order day
- Call the yard with the ticket. Pavers by the pallet, base and sand by the ton. Ask what their pallet holds and round to it.
- Ask about the pallet deposit. Most yards charge for pallets and refund them when you bring them back.
- Book one delivery. Base and sand dumped on a tarp on the driveway, pavers by the boom truck as close as it can reach.
- Rent the plate compactor for the base day and again for the last day, when the joints are swept.
When to hire a pro
Driveways carry cars and need 8 to 12 in of base. Walls over 3 ft, or walls holding back a driveway or a slope above them, need an engineered design. A steep yard may need a terrace of walls, and that is a job for a contractor with a skid steer. Everything on this site is sized for foot traffic and for walls up to 3 ft.
Checked before it is drawn
- Every paver counted from the drawing, cut ones included
- The pavers cover the area exactly, sampled point by point
- The base runs 6 in past every edge
- Walls: buried course, drainage, and no wall over 3 ft
